National, USA – (November 8, 2013)– The National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation announced today that Keli Rabon, ABC 7 News Investigative Reporter in Denver, CO will receive the 2013 Jane Velez-Mitchell Journalism Award on Saturday, January 18, 2014 during the Southwest Conference Against Trafficking in Los Angeles, CA.



About the Award:

The Jane Velez-Mitchell Journalism Award, named after award-winning journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell, host of “Jane Velez-Mitchell”on HLN, recognizes excellence in coverage of news of local, national, and international significance, with a single award for either a print or broadcast journalist who uses the power of media and his/her position to highlight the ongoing violence against women and girls, whether domestic violence, human trafficking, kidnapping and abductions, hate crimes, or other despicable crimes and violence against women and girls without re-victimizing and re-exploiting the victim(s).


The honoree(s) of this prestigious award will be recognized for his/her ability to keep women and girls a focus point in their messages to their audience and the public.  Their dedication and support of NWCAVE Principles will be acknowledged in an award presentation every year by the
National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation.
